I password-protected my website now.  But I haven’t yet figured out how to use custom error messages for “401: Unauthorized” errors, so all these people were confused today when they saw the curt little note instead.  When you fail to produce the right password, it’s supposed to pull up a page like this, but it doesn’t seem to work as far as I can tell.  =[  I can tell from the online Aprelium forums that there are a whole lot of confused people who are mixed in with the not-so-confused people.  The sad part is that the two groups don’t seem to communicate at all.  The Not-So-Confused people say, “Look, it’s like this!” and the Confused people say, “That’s what I thought, but it doesn’t work for me!” and the Not-So-Confused people say, “You must be confused.  Poor confused person.”  Unfortunately, I’ve been trying to follow the same suggestions myself, and it doesn’t work for me either, so I’m guess I’m in the Confused camp, even though I’m not really confused by it not working — I’m confused how some people actually got it to work.  Does that make sense?  I’m probably confusing you.  Sigh.

  1. i’m a little confused. why would people be confused to get an “access unauthorized” message? isn’t that pretty straighforward? i got a pretty straightforward message about that. but does that mean i can’t see your pictures any more? )=

oh wait! i’m not confused any more! and i like your unauthorized access page. am i allowed to share in your pictures?

  2. i read your post and was curious so i had to go try to get on your website and see the error message for myself… 🙂 it’s still giving the short little one, not the one you have a link to… and on that note, can i echo insignificantly’s request and get the password? 🙂
